Get your child ready to read with Bee a Reader, the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library's summer reading program for infants age 0 to 1yr and 6 months.
Sign up starts April 1 and ends July 25.
Recording hours starts May 23 and ends August 1.
Track the hours you spend reading with your baby and/or track the number of activities you and your baby do together (See paper tracker for details.) 10 activities = 4 hours of reading. Record your time reading on this site and win prizes.
The summer reading program is a fun way to help babies explore books and prepare for reading and writing. So, read and play with your little one throughout the summer to grow skills.
4 hours or 10 activities = book of rhymes
8 hours or 20 activities = board book
12 hours or 30 activities = Bee a Reader Tote
Get to 12 hours to be entered into our GRAND PRIZE drawings for a blanket donated by the Topeka Crochet Guild or a soft, Feely Box toy.
All prizes are subject to availability.
Visit the library or bookmobile to pick up your winnings.
Parents: You can sign your infant here, or sign up as a family through the adult program. First register yourself as a reader in the adult program, and then "add infant/kid/teen members" when prompted.
