|Library Book Talks: Fall Book Preview and Book Browse|
Event Type: Continuing Education|
Start Time: 9:00 AM
End Time: 12:00 PM
If you work with children or youth collections at your library, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in a variety of new literature for your young patrons.
Join Cindy Maxey, director of Rose Hill Public Library, as you explore how to select and plan successful story time experiences based on books that engage children, encourage active participation and support early literacy learning. Also, collaborate with other children’s book enthusiasts to develop and share ideas that boost engagement and fun in your programming.
In this interactive workshop, you will:
• Identify picture book components that may lead to engaging story times
• Recognize quality literature that has won the Coretta Scott King Award
• Increase awareness of the significance of reviewed literature
Also, join Robin Hargrave, SCKLS Youth and School Services Consultant and Robin Dauster, SCKLS Youth Services Intern, as they showcase newly reviewed literature for the upcoming reading season.
