If you work in a library, you know that 21st century demands require a robust skill set, including strong interpersonal skills, an advanced knowledge of new technology, awareness of new programming and collection development resources and opportunities, and--of course--masterful time management abilities. You understand that there is no finish line to continuing education and professional development. It is a lifelong journey! Join a group of like-minded professionals as we embark on this journey to identify personal learning gaps and explore valuable ways to fill those gaps. Together, we will discover and navigate resources available for quality self-initiated and self-paced professional development.
Katherine Hughes, training specialist, will facilitate and guide you through this fast-paced workshop in which you will:
- Assess your current job requirements, identify areas of growth, and develop a SMART goal to drive learning
- Review a variety of professional development resources, methods and strategies to support your goals
- Identify ways to collaborate with library professionals online and in-person to enlarge your PD community
- Generate ideas to establish an ongoing professional development plan that works for you
Who should attend? Any library staff member with a desire to learn and grow. This workshop's content may best apply to staff who are new to a job or who have learning goals that they don't know quite how to pursue. Come journey with us!
