Event Type: Continuing Education|
Start Time: 9:00 AM
End Time: 11:00 AM
In this day and age, living safe means being aware and projecting strength! All are welcome to attend this dynamic event to learn how to be your own best protector. Join self-defense advocate and professional speaker Cindy Coughenour at Derby Public Library for this highly engaging and empowering hands-on training session. It is sure to make you think, move and laugh—yes, you are guaranteed to have fun in this positive learning environment!
Careful demonstration and step-by-step practice of precautionary attitudes and basic self-defense techniques aim to increase your confidence and safety-awareness. Through active participation, you will learn how to:
• Recognize and avoid dangerous situations
• Avoid becoming a target by projecting strong body language
• Utilize basic and accessible defensive moves to protect yourself
Dress comfortably because you will be invited to practice techniques and actively grow your skills! Practice may involve movements in an upright or ground position, including bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and kicking. You are encouraged, but not required, to participate in activities that are physically and emotionally comfortable for you.
Cindy Coughenour has more than 17 years of experience and is certified in many different forms of self-defense. In 2001, she founded Female and Fearless and has passionately trained diverse groups in the art of personal safety ever since.
