Library Talks: READ Poster Training

Event Type: Continuing Education
Date: 1/8/2019
Start Time: 1:00 PM
End Time: 4:00 PM
Promote your library’s services with customized READ® posters! Feature your own patrons, students, library staff, local officials or celebrities on printed posters or on your library’s website using the SCKLS READ® poster kit.

Join Sharon Barnes, technology consultant, for a unique hands-on learning experience featuring setup, photo editing and poster creation using the SCKLS READ® Poster Kit. After this training, you will know the borrowing procedures as well as how to hold your own READ event®. The kit includes a laptop with pre-installed ALA READ® Poster software, instructions, background screen and supplemental lighting. When your library offers its own READ® event, you will need to provide a camera and staffing. A staff member or volunteer from your library must attend this training to be eligible to borrow and use the SCKLS READ® Poster Kit.

Learn how to:
• Select an appropriate location, set up a photo shoot, and use basic photography skills
• Review image file types and determine resolution
• Use Photoshop selection and layering techniques to create professional-looking posters

Participants for this hands-on training session should bring a favorite book and be prepared to be photographed and have fun! This training will take place at Andover Public Library in the Art Gallery, and participants will use SCKLS equipment, so no need to bring your own device. Registration is limited to 6 participants and the deadline for registration is Friday, December 28, 2018.

Location: Offsite
Registration Ends: 12/28/2018 at 12:00 AM
