|Children's Story Time Workshop|
Event Type: Continuing Education|
Start Time: 9:00 AM
End Time: 12:00 PM
Itís time for a new story time year, so join us at SCKLS for our Childrenís Story Time Workshop where youíll glean fresh ideas about stories, crafts, songs and movement activities to enliven and enhance your programming.
Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! At this workshop, learn how to incorporate a variety of animal movements in your story telling, such as the dog pose and giraffe stretch. Audience participation is fun and healthy; and once your young participants have mastered these energizing movements, your story time audience interaction and focus will soar! Parents will be thrilled that their children are building a love of reading while developing flexibility, large motor skills, and rhythm. Nicole Penley, SCKLS Outreach Services Specialist, and Robin Hargrave, Youth and School Services Consultant, will provide animal movement instruction, story modeling, and take-home resources.
Plan ahead to share story time ideas with fellow librarians in a supportive and fun setting. Please bring a story book and coordinating craft or activity to share with the group.
Light refreshments will be available. This training may be used towards acquiring a Basic Library Skills Training certificate.
