Date: 12/7/2018
Start Time: 1:00 PM
End Time: 3:00 PM
In today’s knowledge-based society, individuals are searching for resources to meet their own personalized needs. As a librarian, you have the unique opportunity to serve as a guide in your patrons’ quest for information and learning experiences. Understanding reliable online resources available through the Kansas State Library may be one of the most impactful ways you can serve your patrons in their exploration.

Familiarize yourself with the Kansas State Library’s offerings by joining Stefanie Gostautas, Technology Projects Specialist, as she provides you with an overview of online databases and e-book resources so that you may better serve your patrons’ specific needs. For helping students with school research projects, brush up on Explora and Britannica. For high stake test preparation or life skill learning, explore LearningExpress. Experience NoveList, a great readers’ advisory go-to, as well as HeritageQuest for your genealogy enthusiasts, and much more. Add a myriad of e-book and audiobook resources to your library toolbox with knowledge of Cloud Library, RBdigital, Total Boox, Freading, and Britannica E-STAX.

By the end of this information-packed session, you will be able to:

• Identify and locate multiple online resources available through the Kansas State Library
• Evaluate and use these online resources to help patrons problem-solve, conduct effective research, answer everyday questions and enjoy lifelong learning
• Share knowledge of e-book and audiobook resources with your patrons to expand their reading capability and options

Whether you’re a new State Library user or just need a refresher, you are sure to increase your knowledge base by attending this Basic Library Skills Training (BLaST) program. An optional complimentary lunch is included with your registration.
