Are you new to your library staff and eager to get an overview of the big picture of the inner workings of your library? Join Katherine Williams, SCKLS Library Support Specialist, as she shares background information you need to know about cataloging, interlibrary loan (ILL) benefits and processes, and must-know copyright rules and regulations. See how all the pieces fit together as you gain a deeper understanding of catalog records, classification and searches; ILL best practices using the Kansas Information Circuit Network (KICNET) or SLAP networks; as well as copyright information to prepare you for common library problem-solving.
Learn how to:
• Select records and classify materials with a better understanding of library catalog basics
• Save money by sharing resources with in- and out-of-state ILL resources
• Manage library-specific copyright laws to meet patron needs, including photocopying and movie screening
