|Library Talks: Digitization Basics - Sharing and Preservation|
Event Type: Continuing Education|
Start Time: 9:30 AM
End Time: 12:00 PM
Digitization is the process of creating computer-readable versions of physical objects. Current technology is affordable enough that any library can digitize their local history items for preservation, and even share them online. This session will provide an overview of the planning and procedures for a project, small or large, for institutional or personal collections. Learn why it is important to create digital copies of documents and photos, see how a computer recognizes text, and get some hands-on practice working with photo files. A virtual tour of SCKLS Digital Library Initiative sites will showcase other types of items that can be digitized.
